After taking a walk around Burnham Park, we decided to walk back to where we parked our car and find a transient house.
The transient house in Mines View was affordable and comfortable. It had one big living room, a kitchen, a dining area, and two separate bedrooms. Lee made me choose first which bedroom I wanted and I chose the one with two bunk beds. I needed a lot of space for my personal belongings.
After taking a nap, we went to Mines View Park at around 7 pm for some sightseeing. There was nothing much to see because it was already dark. We just leaned on the rails and stood there, among other local tourists, viewing the stars above and the star-like lights from the buildings and houses down below. It felt like we were surrounded by stars. The breeze was cold.

It got colder so we walked back to our transient house and watched TV some more. After a while, I got very hungry. I asked Lee if we could go out earlier than planned so that we could eat dinner earlier but he refused. He said that the night market would open at 9 pm, and we would go out at 8:00, find a place to have dinner in, and go to the night market afterwards. He said it was a sensible plan.
From our combined budget of P40,000.00, we each got P3,000.00 as our pocket money, in case we saw something we personally wanted to buy. I went out by myself to find something to eat but there wasn’t any restaurant nearby. I came back to the transient tired, disappointed and hungrier. Angrily, I asked Lee again if we could go out earlier than planned because I was really starving. He got angry and told me, “What’s the problem if you endure for one hour more? Are you going to die? “I snapped back and told him something not fit for this blog.
He had no choice but to drive and look for a diner. He said we would look for Mario’s Steak House. We got lost, going around and around and around again. I had already lost my appetite. After driving for about 25 minutes, we found Mario’s steakhouse. It looked cozy. When we saw the price of the menu, we decided to go out. We reasoned that steak tastes like steak, whether it is served in Baguio or in Manila. Despite being angry at each other, we made a promise to have steak together when we go back to Quezon City.
After driving for some more, we had no choice but to eat at Chowking which was near the night market. The atmosphere was already ruined and we had dinner in silence. While eating, I kept on looking outside, hoping that a Manila-bound bus would pass by. I really wanted to go back to Quezon City and leave Lee behind with all the mess.
After the dinner, we headed for the night market. Lee bought a charger which he tried to use later in the car but he discovered it was not working. Fortunately, we had not driven back to the transient house so he returned it. I bought myself a hoodie in preparation for the Sagada trip ahead. It cost only 100 pesos. We went back to the transient house without speaking a word.
That night at the transient house, when I had taken a shower, I saw Lee waiting for me at the dining area, with a sulky face.
“I changed the plan. We will not stay in Baguio for two days. We will go to Sagada tomorrow. Sagada is a very calm place. You and I will not fight there. No stress there. We will leave tomorrow at 6 a.m.”
Well, that was his way of saying sorry, so I agreed.
