The Road Trip Up North Part 26: The Splendid Sunrise Over Lingayen Gulf–December 25, 2017

Far right is Maxine By The Sea Restaurant, the place we had dinner at the night before.
Splendid sunrise over Lingayen Gulf

The night before, Lee and I agreed to wake up early to view the famous sunrise. At 5:30 I got up and had coffee. Lee and I agreed to meet at the hallway in front of my own room at 5:45. We would leisurely walk to the part of the park where we can get a good view of the sunrise, and we would get there at around 6:00, just in time for the spectacular view.

At 5:45, there was no sign that Lee would wake up soon. I was sure that he couldn’t get his lazy sleepy ass off his bed (just like back in Sagada when we agreed to get up at 5 a.m. to view the sea of clouds), so I opted to go the park by myself. The chilly morning air made my walk even lovelier. When I got there, the sun had risen, showing off its beauty.

The other tourists, locals and foreign ones alike, were all excitedly taking pictures, smiling, laughing, making plans for the hours ahead. I just stood there, rooted in my own spot, in awe of the sunbeams reflected in the water. I closed my eyes and inhaled the sea breeze.

I remembered to take  some pictures to immortalize the moment.

After a while, I walked back to our accommodation house. I needed to prepare breakfast.

The beauty of the sunrise was even made more intense by the crisp morning air.
Even the early morning clouds had their own spectacular show.
