The Road Trip Up North Part 31: The Magical Bolinao Falls-December 26, 2017

The road to Bolinao Falls was one heck of a ride—rough and dusty roads that seemed to be heading to nowhere. It was one long drive and at some points, I felt a little scared because I did not know what was lying ahead, or if we were heading for the right direction, or if our car would break down in the middle of nowhere and no help would be available. But then from time to time I would see tricycles or packed jeepneys obviously heading for the same direction. There were trees and tall grass lining either side of the road. Oftentimes we would pass by some small villages, and the villagers would be under the mango trees burning raked dried leaves. The grass blades were swaying in the early afternoon sun.

This was taken during my solo trip in April 2019,not during my road trip in December 2017.

After about an hour of driving, we finally reached our destination and the view was magical. Of course, my digital camera battery was already exhausted; it was exhausted even back at the cave. The pictures I am posting here were taken during my solo travel.

Lee was speechless when he saw the beauty that was in front of him. The waterfalls I mean, not me. I was annoyed at myself for not being able to charge the battery of my digital camera. It was one magical moment that I wanted to capture, but couldn’t.

Lee and I contented ourselves watching the adults and kids rafting. The strong and courageous men would go to the top of the mountain, right where the water was cascading from, and somersault to the emerald water below. Indeed, the view looked like a picture from a storybook, from a fairy tale book.

There were rocks in the middle of the emerald green water, and the lake was surrounded by lush green vegetation. The singing of the birds and the sound of the cascading water only added magic to the air. Lee sighed and so did I. He sighed because of the sight, I sighed because there was no battery in my camera.

We couldn’t do anything anymore. When we got tired watching the people rafting, we decided to go back to our accommodation house.
